100 List Challenge: Cat

The Crying Traveler
Nakh reacted nonchalantly at the scream Kalana let out while stroking his pet Dakara.

"What?"

"What is that...that huge monster doing there?!"

"It's not a monster," Nakh retorted. "It's my pet Dakara. I haven't seen him in months. How did you find me, eh? You good little pet you."

"P-Pet...?" Kal was still apprehensive.

"Oh, don't worry about him. He's just as tame as any house cat you humans keep as pets."

"I beg to differ."

Love of the Damned
"Happy birthday, hun."

Thilius surprised Faira with a basket tied in a ribbon. A cloth covered the contents inside the basket.

"But, Thili, I don't have a birthday."

"It's about time you do. You were born on the day the Big Guy created the world, right?"

"Yeah, it's flattering you remembered."

"So, according to my calculation, today is the day. Here's your present."

Thilius tapped the cloth. Out popped two little cat heads, one black and one white.

"It's a male and a female. I know how much you like cats, so I thought maybe..."

"Oh, Thili," Faira tearfully hugged Thilius. "You're the best present I could ever have. Thank you."

"Yeah, I love you too, hun," Thilius chuckled.

A/N:

Dakara is an old pet Nakh used to keep as a child, but due to the giant's warring nature, he never really got round to really take care of it, but Dakara loved him just the same. It's under the wild cat species, but sort of like a branch of felines that mutated into the giant species.

When Nakh disappeared and ended up with Kal, Dakara left home in search of him, and followed his master's trail as Nakh and Kal went on the move after they eloped and ran away from Kal's clansmen. He finally found him while they were hiding out at a nearby village and followed them ever since.

Dakara bonded well with his new extra master Kal, and sometimes gives him rides whenever he needed to go anywhere when Nakh's not around, but he was killed trying to protect Kal when their recent hideout was compromised thanks to the villagers' greed over the reward money.
